The Department of Microbiology is one of the first research department of IVRD. After nearly 45 years of development, the Department has increasingly affirmed its position and roles in the general development of IVRD.

Functions and tasks

  1. Develop programs, projects, plans for scientific research and technology transfer in the field of veterinary microbiology to serve the development of livestock industry
  2. Carry out scientific research and transfer technology on:
  • Bacterial diseases on cattle, poultry, aquatic animals
  • Research and manufacture vaccines and biological products to prevent and treat bacterial diseases for cattle, poultry and aquatic animals
  • Transfer of technical advances in disease prevention and treatment for cattle, poultry and aquatic animals
  • Participating in international cooperation programs and projects on bacterial diseases in cattle and poultry with domestic and international organizations and partners
  • Participating in training for researcher, technicians and technical workers specializing in veterinary microbiology
